Bids Export Problem
Symptoms:
Bids will export line items to excel so that suppliers can update and provide current pricing. The file is then imported back into Bids. The format of the file that Bids exports is not correct and must be manually manipulated in order to import back in during the price update process.
Solution:
Change the default file format of the Bids Export to Bids 8.0 Tablular from Bids 8.0 when using a version of Crystal higher than 8.5. The Tabular format exports properly under the Crystal 11 run-time environment. Also: - when extracting the extension from the import file name look for the “.” from the end of the string to avoid a “.” character that is legitimately part of the file name. The extension is used to determine if the file is an Excel file or a text file. - changed the display on the bids import file to show all 19 columns. The Line column was being cut off.
